I set this thread up for you to file bugs in MintPPC 9 after installation using the mint-installer script. Things that you can report are things like items that don't work from the menu for example. It helps me to improve MintPPC. Thanks.

Will this cover a Beta Tester topic, and if you recruit for that will such testers receive unreleased raw versions of your progress?

I don't entirely understand what you mean. I will update the mint-installer script with the information I get from here. Later, when I try again, I will also use the information for the iso-based installer. The latter is future stuff. The iso is further away then ever at the moment. The tools available within Debian to create iso CD images, are very limited. I can only wait.

For both my iBook G4 (6,7) and PowerMac G4 (3,5) the 'Switch User' command (Menu > Logout > Switch User) results in a unresponsive, black screen with a mouse pointer.

The only remedy I have found is a hard restart, and to stay away from Switch User.

so anyone with squeeze and mint 9 will have a 2.6.32 kernel which is new enough for wpa if you get the orinoco module.

I also did notice that I couldn't do an iwlist scanning without adding wireless-tools
Code:
apt-get install wireless-tools

So that maybe a contributing factor if your wireless can't see or connect to networks.

So add wireless-tools to the installed programs in MintPPC 9.

correct Joe. I don't really see it as a bug, but a feature request. I like the tapping click on the touchpad. The good news is that I have a solution for that:

In /etc/init.d I created a file called trackpad-notap (as root of course):
Code:
sudo nano /etc/init.d/trackpad-notap

I pasted the following lines into it:
Code:
#!/bin/sh
trackpad notap

To make it executable you do:
Code:
sudo chmod +x trackpad-notap

Then add it to the run time scripts:
Code:
sudo update-rc.d trackpad-notap defaults

Thanks! I will give this a shot when I get home.

I like the tapping myself but for some reason the trackpad on this old G3 is very sensitive to the tapping. I can live without it so the advice is very much appreciated.

Will post back with the results.

woah,.. and wireless-tools was installed on this one. Did you already update that script?

You could put...
Code:
foundAirport()
{
cd /tmp
wget http://www.ant2ne.com/downloads/iBook_orinoco.fw.tar.bz2
tar -xvjf iBook_orinoco.fw.tar.bz2
mv orinoco.fw /lib/firmware/agere_sta_fw.bin
modprobe airport
cat airport >> /etc/modules
}
modprobe -l | grep airport && foundAirport

...into your script. That would check for the airport module, and if it finds it, it would install the ornico module that will allow wpa. I don't know if non airport having Macs (Desktops like iMac or eMac) have the airport driver module installed by default. Even if they did, and they don't use airport, it wont hurt them to have the better module. Just give me some props in the script comments. :-)

Add libdvdcss2 in the installer script for DVD playback.
http://debian-multimedia.org/dists/test ... vdcss2.php

So we need add add in /etc/apt/sources.list:
Code:
deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org squeeze main non-free

and install libdvdcss2.

We can be sure that's it's free software under the GNU General Public License:
