Tcarlson: I am too lazy to open up my G4 and PC and switch the video cards. Let's try it on your machine.

Can you try to boot with the following as kernel argument:

video=nvidiafb:off

Make sure you have selected "nouveau" as driver in the xorg.conf file and that you have xserver-xorg-video-nouveau installed.
