Yeh, the emulator runs at 50fps for me, until I run something taxing (like Edge of Disgrace) and set the double size option under the VIC-II settings.

You can download the zip (http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/down ... p?id=91085), unzip it, and then you attach the first .D64 (1541 disk image) using ALT-8. When it asks, attach the second d64 with ALT-8.

Of course you can play Great Gianna Sisters - eg http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=23586 :)

Do you happen to know whether the geforce fx 5200 would work in my G4? I assume it would. Altho the sawtooth arch is limited to AGP 2x isnt it?

If there are decent open source drivers for it I might go with one of them - theyre cheaper and better by looking at the specs.

Ive got some more RAM on the way, and a 1Ghz G4 upgrade, so this mac will be pumpin soon :)

You can check specs at everymac.com. Everything you use is open source. There are no proprietary drivers for Linux/PPC. That is the reason X reacts sluggish at times. On Intel machines, you can install the catalyst driver for ATI cards or NVIDIA drivers for NVIDIA cards. They work a lot better than open source. You have to live with that.

Altho, sometimes you gotta wonder, how hard would it be for someone at nvidia or whereever to recompile the drivers for PPC

It runs well under MintPPC 11, don't know about 9.

Hard? Not at all, deal with some dependencies maybe. Time consuming? Not really, just set it to build on one of their massive server machines, or just make the driver opensource so the community can do it.

Caring? That is the main issue. How many people are using PPC Linux and need awesome Graphics support? Not enough for Nvidia to care.

Be very careful. Some of these video cards only work for Macs, they have a special ROM then. I don't know about this particular card. Google is your friend here.

well, I dove in and bought a card

Wish Id done some more research first :) Ive ended up with an 8x card, which I thought would clock down to 2x. Unfortunately, it has different keys and wont fit it the slot (which appears to have both the 1.5V and 3.3V keys?)

Anybody wanna swap a ATI Radeon 9600 PRO 256 MB Dual DVI card for something decent thatll run in my mac? ;) Im back on the old card...... bleh.
