We are working on more automatic support for powerpc based Macs. Think about automatic installation of a working xorg.conf file during installation of MintPPC for example. For this to be developed tool to work, we need hardware information of as many as possible different PPC based Macs.

If you like to help us achieve this challenging goal, do the following:

Install lshw:
Code:
sudo apt install lshw

Run lshw
Code:
sudo lshw > lshw.txt

Attach lshw.txt to this thread here, or send it by mail to
jjhdiederen at zonnet dot nl and tell me which exact machine you have by giving me a link in everymac.com

Please, also attach your xorg.conf file as well as your yaboot.conf file for your computer.

Thanks for your help!!

I'm back! Hi, jj. After a very successful mint8 install I reinstalled mint9 with squeeze. I did this about a month ago or so and tried to fix all the broken things but now I decided to just reinstall. I haven't been able to boot from the usb again to reinstall yet but here is my current hardware info:

Powerbook G4 12" cpu 7447A 1333MHz

==============
Edit: 12/13/10. While reinstalling today I noticed that the xorg.conf format was a bit off. I copied the text from the link "linuxopjemac" posted at http://mac.linux.be/content/powerbook-g4-133-12 . It actually worked but the layout of the "device" section was not typical. I think I fixed it now.

I broke my G3 Pismo so I am now working on a PowerBook G4 Titanium 500 MHz:
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/p ... 4_500.html

I couldn't get the native resolution of 1152x768 to work with the ati driver, so I went back to the fbdev driver. It's working now. I can't connect to my WPA protected network with this airport card in it. I see the problems other people experience, bad password. I will try the Ant2ne trick later on.

update:
I did the Ant2ne trick and it worked! I have airport working with WPA encryption.
Code:
cd /tmp
wget http://www.ant2ne.com/downloads/iBook_orinoco.fw.tar.bz2
tar -xvjf iBook_orinoco.fw.tar.bz2
sudo mv orinoco.fw /lib/firmware/agere_sta_fw.bin

After a reboot I had it working.

update 2:
I got the ati driver working now in xorg.conf. I attached the final working version.

linuxopjemac, that trick should have been in the mint-installer script and done that automatically. I wonder why it did not.
