Hi
i just installed Linux on my old powerbook. i have a few questions (and am sure to have many more)...

1. how do i install downloaded software in Linux? for example i downloaded Firefox and could not figure out how to install it...i assume i need to extract something?

2. is there a function to allow me to brighten or dim my screen?

3. i need to remap the functions of some of my keyboard - any links to where i might find that?

that's what i have at this point.

1. IceWeasel is the same as Firefox and comes pre-installed.

screen dimming should be possible with your function keys, or sometimes Fn in combination with the function key which is responsible for more backlight and less backlight.
