lspci -vnn | grep 14e4 output:

Code:
0001:10:12.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller [14e4:4320] (rev 02)

Emphasis on that ending rev 02 bit. :)

Exactly, rev 02. As I presume that most cards are rev 3 in newer Macs, I install b43 by default. People who don't get their cards working should consider looking deeper into the chipset of their card and install b43legacy if necessary. Good work.

The command to install the legacy firmware is

sudo apt-get install firmware-b43legacy-installer

See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiD ... 43_drivers and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPCFAQ .

I installed 9.3 on ibook g3 600mhz. Got the screen fixed with xorg.conf file. The ethernet works & wifi with wpa worked 1 time only. Can't access NETWORK under ADMINSTRATION. The router says there is association but Linux keeps asking for the password & disconnecting. Is it ok to have the user & root have the same password?......and as I type this it connects for a second time. Is NETWORK under ADMINISTRATION denial related to these passwords being the same? Thanks for your input. Phil

to unlock the keyring you have to give the root password you gave during installaton. For the network, you need to give the network password.

I made them the same, can that be a problem? (if the code FIRST checks to see if the user password was entered?)

Actually root password works most of the time. Get a sudo error on a few like ADMINISTRATOR -> Network on the gnome desktop.
