Yeah, I know someone else having problems with the iLamp and MintPPC 11 too, right este el paz ? I only I could get such a machine myself, I could be able to understand the problems.
If you ever reinstall MintPPC 11, can you post the complete log file which resides in /var/log/syslog ? Just get to a shell and try to get that file out somehow. Then we have a clue what's going on with this weird fault @ software installation stage. My guess is that you need to choose another Debian server as there lies the culprit of the problem to my honest opinion.
