Code:
/etc/X11/xorg.conf
I tried to run these commands in the iBook to see what the ideal outcome should look like so maybe I could copy/paste it, but I didn't need to set the xorg.conf file in the iBook o it gave me "no such file or directory in the iBook.
In the iMac that I'm working to get together when I ran that command alone exactly as you have it posted it either did nothing or got a "permission denied" . . . I don't know what any of these commands are doing or supposed to do . . . but when I ran "cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf" I got a big "script"??? printing out on the TTY terminal, again, I don't know how to get any of these "shells" or "screens" to print to email or anything since I'm just in command line, I couldn't get the list to scroll back up using the arrow keys or the tab key, but there was a list that said "option" on the left side and then stuff like "NoAccel" and then <Bool> Or something like that on the right and the list went through a number of options, like ShadowFB, UseFBDev, Rotate. And it showed the Vendor name and video card as [GeForce4Mx w/ AGP8x; Bus ID-PCI:0:16:0. And then toward the bottom was Section "Screen" Identifier Screen 0"
When I then entered "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" I got also a long print out, no idea how to "capture" that information and/or do anything to forward it to anywhere. Toward the bottom was the line "Load module "nv" . . . Failed to load "nv" module does not exist. No drivers available. Fatal server error: no screens found. Check the log file at /var/log/Xorg.0.log for additional information." . . . which is what I thought I was doing by entering that command???
Again, I have handwritten out the contents of the error window that said "Xserver has been disabled, would you like to see a report?" with tabs for <Yes> or <No> at the bottom. It has the "xorg-server" number with a guy's name after it "2:1.11.2.902-1 (Cyril Brulebois <kiki@debian.org)
Would any more of that Xserver error report be relevant for me to add?? It has the "current operating system" and Kernel command line root number, etc???????
