At the moment the debian installer does not work as the kernel which was used to build the installer does not match the kernel of the system that is going to be installed. I have updated the installation instructions to make it clear that MintPPC 11 cannot be installed at the moment.

Some interesting news: I am able to spin my own netboot images now. I found a way to make a Wheezy mini.iso for the powerpc arch. I am now testing whether it installs wheezy/mintppc 11. I might even be able to spin images that have the preseed file in the initrd file. This will enable you users to install MintPPC without the 'url=mintppc.org' part. We'll see..

Edit: I am testing a MintPPC 11 installation now with my own mini.iso file.

I thought that I was smart but the installer I created installs a Wheezy system with the MintPPC 9 desktop GUI. That is not exactly what I was hoping for. I understand why it does this but I did not expect it. For me the inner workings of debian-installer are also quite new. I guess we have to wait for a working wheezy installer...

airdrummer: I cannot read your link but I think you referred to this:
G3/G4: http://d-i.debian.org/daily-images/powe ... t/mini.iso
G5: http://d-i.debian.org/daily-images/powe ... t/mini.iso

I am going to test the 32-bits version for G3/G4 now...Will keep you updated.

Does this mean, we can delete the pinning for the update of lxappearance?

it was
Code:
  http://d-i.debian.org/daily-images/powerpc/20111130-00:17/powerpc/netboot/mini.iso

but i will try the 24.01.2012 build & get back to u...tomorrow: the wife's back, so i'll have to wait until then to get it out of her hands;-)

and we still have to do the conversion to .img? no, wait, that was for booting from usb...

and no url=mintppc.org, correct? i see u have updated the iso links on http://www.mintppc.org/content/installation-instructions-mintppc-11 but still specify:
Code:
Boot from it and at the yaboot prompt type
boot: install url=mintppc.org
