single user boot:
at yaboot prompt type:

log in with root password
do your thing in cli
CTRL-D to resume booting

that didn't help:-(

single user boot is also blackscreen:-P

and i just noticed that all the func.keys, as well as tab & left, down & up arrows, emit a hi-pitched single beep...

airdrummer, there is definitely something wrong. Maybe you have to boot with:

at the yaboot prompt

no effect...i'm 93% into reinstall...stay toon;-)

fresh install results in same black screen, has no effect

last week, while i was away dancin' 2 cedric watson, the wife had 2 reboot her g4ti...apparently she allowed it to boot into mint, & thought it was off because the screen was black, so she closed it up...when she came back several hours later, it was too hot to hold:-(

i found the battery dead but on recharge & repair of the osx partition, it survived!-)

so the moral of the story is: mintppc is not wife-ready;-} i'll try mint on my g4al when i get a chance...

sad news: the ti's screen was fritzing when it was moved(tilted) so i got a new lcd data cable (same problem/fix as w/ an old clamshell)

taking apart the display is a pain: it's glued 2gether, but macdan's technique http://home.comcast.net/~macdan/tibook_display.html#theory worked, so i started 2 put it all 2gether again, got the motherboard in, plugged in the display cable...and the socket on the m-b came off:-( it won't even start up now:-(

oh, well, it survived 2 yrs in morocco, but i guess it's time 2 retire it...
