I'm trying to install MintPPC 9.3 from a 1gb usb stick on an iBook G4. I have slight familiarity with Unix and Linux environments, but less so with Mac quirks.
I have tried a lot. I will post some of the links I have been considering for guidance, as well as some general questions. However, as of this moment, I can insert my flash drive, get to the open firmware prompt, and execute:
which brings up a new screen that briefly shows some information about loading XCOFF then goes to a all grey screen with a central 'do not enter' type logo. What the does this mean?
My suspicion is that I've missed something about creating a blessed partition.
I don't have a newer mac at my disposal this moment, so i don't have mac-fdisk (it seems) to create the bootstrap partition, although I have succeeded in using diskutil+fdisk to make an hfs partition with boot sector.
I've converted the mini.iso to .img using the hdiutil. Does this image have yaboot on it, or do I have to install that separately?
I've tried these instructions:http://mintppc.org/content/installation-mintppc-92#1
as well as played with:http://mac.linux.be/content/copying-files-flexible-way
Thanks for any guidance.
